We just back from got back from SOAR Doggie Rescue's adoption event at Hollywood Feed in Bartlett, and we may have found the perfect friend for Beatrice! His name is Max and he's 3 months old.
Max has already been neutered, microchipped, and (most conveniently), potty trained. His foster mom has a five year old, a two year old, and a five month old, and said that he got along really well with her children, including the baby. If he started licking the baby's face, all she had to do was tell him to stop, and he'd quit. She said that she wanted to keep him, but she already has an elderly female Chihuahua that wasn't very nice to other dogs.
They think he's a Labrador/Border Collie mix. I can understand why they think he's part Labrador--he's friendly, obedient and looks a bit like a Labrador. I'm much more skeptical of the idea that he's part Botder Collie. Sometimes I think that a lot of black and white puppies get labeled Border Collie mixes by default when really they are nothing of the sort.
We filled out SOAR's adoption application at the event. The rescue's directors said that she would review the applications tomorrow. Max hasn't been listed online yet, so hopefully we'll get first dibs! I'll let you know when we hear something.
